The Taralga & District Showground & Recreation Co-Operative Limited is the trustee of the Showground. The Board of Directors are committ​ee members from local organisations that utilise the grounds for monthly, seasonal and annual events.

Major organisations

Australia Day Rodeo & Campdraft


Come and enjoy a weekend of family fun, from sitting on the hill watching the cowboys & cowgirls show their skills, to dancing along to the evening's entertainment. Profits from the Rodeo & Campdraft are distributed to local organizations whose members volunteer their time with helping run the event. The Committee has contributed to the Co-Operative to help fund major infrastructure to the grounds.

Taralga AP&H Association


The Annual Show was established in 1888. There is plenty for everyone to see with the quick shears, all the usual livestock and horse events, Team Sorting/Yarding, home brewing competition and of course the famous Pavilion, loaded with arts, crafts, photos, flowers and produce plus a bush poetry competition and display of entries in the Taralga Rodeo Photo Competition.

Southern NSW Team Sorting Finals


The Team Sorting Finals are held at the beginning of November and is an invitation for the top 50 Open Riders and the top 20 Junior Riders who qualify with tally of cattle sorted throughout the season at affiliated events.

Taralga Pony Club

The Pony Club was founded in 1959. The Club's rally days are on the 2nd Sunday of each month at the Showground.

Taralga Rugby Union Club


Rugby was first established in Taralga in 1886, playing matches against Goulburn and Crookwell. With Rughby League taking a strong hold, the club folded in the early 1990's but was reformed in 2000 and the team won the Monaro Second Grade Competition.

Taralga Tennis Club

The community tennis courts are located across the road from the Showground.

If visiting Taralga and would like to have a game or two, the tennis courts are available for hire. Keys are available from The General Store in the main street of Taralga or by contacting Michelle Bennett on 0458 528 838 or Martha Grahame on 4840 2445.

Small School Sports Carnival

The first small school sports was held at Taralga Showground in 1935. Children would meet at Taralga Public School and march to the Showground led by a drummer and piper, this continued until 1965 and then the children met at the Showgrounds, most of these small schools had closed about this time.

Southern Tablelands Vintage Farm Machinery Club

The Heritage Rally is held on the 3rd weekend in November. Displays and demonstrations of vintage farm machinery, cars, bikes, tractors, steam engines.

Activities include vintage tractor pull, tractor trek, threshing display, hand loaded baling, heritage games for the young and young at heart and live entertainment on Saturday night.
